Routes Ahead is the 14-19 area prospectus for Derby and Derbyshire.

Routes Ahead has:

  • information about learning opportunities in and around Derby and Derbyshire
  • details of local provider's open days and taster sessions
  • a useful what can I do next feature to help young people look at progression routes, and
  • links to career and personal support information.

Learning providers are responsible for:

  • keeping their course, provider and even information up to date
  • helping students register with the system
  • helping students apply for post-16 learning opportunities through Routes Ahead where appropriate, and
  • administering and following up applications they receive through Routes Ahead where appropriate.

Following pilot work with students in Chesterfield and Derby, a new online application system is live on Routes Ahead for Year 11 students to use. Derby City Council and Derbyshire County Council first introduced the system in response to Government requirement to improve 14-19 education and training options across the country.

You can find out which learning providers young people can apply to through Routes Ahead on the Connexions Derbyshire website.
